The week that was: how was it for you?
There can be little doubt that this week belonged to Prince Harry, arguably the most famous face on the planet right now. His explosive tell-all book Spare sold more copies in the US on day one of its release than Barack Obama’s A Promised Land. For my own part I have mixed emotions about what he’s done. The way some parts of the tabloid media have treated Harry and his wife is disgusting, and what happened to his mum still resonates as a tragedy that never needed to happen. Yet I can’t help but feel that the reconciliation he says he longs for has been made all but impossible by his own hand. HERE he is publicising his book on the Late Show.
Property of the week
Snooping around the property pages for that dream home has always been a weakness of mine - I just can’t help myself, even though I have absolutely no intention of moving anywhere. I just love to nosy around other people’s homes, looking for ideas and inspiration and getting angry at never winning the EuroMillions - then I remember I don’t put it on! Anyway, take a look at THIS beauty, which, with direct rail links to London will likely attract more than just local interest.
Letter of the week
This week, I found myself nodding away as I read THIS letter from Mike Baldwin in Sheffield as he expressed his dismay at the state of our precious NHS as it struggles to care for those who need its help at the moment.
NB: Readers’ letters are important to me. They allow you to express your opinions and enable me to better understand the issues that are important to you. But we need more of them and from a more diverse range of people and voices. So, please do take the time to send them over to us at: yp.editor@nationalworld.com
Super dog
Lambing season is upon us, which means some long hours, emotional moments and tired eyes in the farming community for which we at The Yorkshire Post could not have more admiration. Yet one hand down on the farm will not let this wet weather dampen their spirits. Look at THIS little nugget of joy.
You couldn’t make it up corner
The criminal neglect of our public transport infrastructure and services in this part of the country is well documented. On more than one occasion I have use the pages of The Yorkshire Post to lament the outrageously poor railway we are subjected to in the North. Well, this week, it proved not good enough for the Prime Minister, either. Not even first class. Instead he took a taxpayer funded private fast jet from London to Leeds, opting for the RAF over LNER. Alright for some, eh? Full story HERE.
Inspiration of the week
Born weighing just two pounds and given little chance from day one by doctors who warned her parents their daughter would have no quality of life, and would almost certainly never communicate with them in any meaningful way.
So just have a look at THIS as little Minnie-Mae proves them all wrong by shining like the star she is, waving for the very first time to her mum who, understandably, was overcome with emotion.
Go, Minnie-May!
And finally
Please do feel free to share this new-format newsletter with friends and family, because only with your support as subscribers can The Yorkshire Post continue to be the strong, vibrant, quality media outlet that you can be proud of.
See you next week.
